Redeploy Balloons successfully improved the pace of Warzone matches, but they don’t belong on the Verdansk remake.

Warzone’s first map, Verdansk, is expected to return in Season 3, which is slated to start on March 20, based on the current Battle Pass timer. And It’s hard not to get excited after seeing the first batch of leaks.

The HDR, Grau 5.56, Kilo 141, and CR-56 AMAX were all among the best weapons to use on the original Verdansk, and rumors suggest that they are all coming back for the remake. This is the first time all four weapons will appear in a game since they were first introduced in Modern Warfare 2019.

In addition, the revamped map will reportedly be very similar to the launch version from March 2020, with a few minor changes.

Raven Software deserves credit for re-introducing features that made the map so special in 2020, but I’m more worried about later innovations that could shake things up.

Verdansk does not need Redeploy Balloons to be fun

Call of Duty introduced Redeploy Balloons to Warzone in 2022, allowing players to launch themselves into the air. They were commonly used to escape the circle, fight, or catch a team off guard.

In 2023, Warzone rebranded the feature as Redeploy Drones on Ashika Island and Al Mazrah, and they functioned the same. However, players could also carry the Drones in their inventory and use them whenever they wanted.

ModernWarzone asked players if they would want either feature back when Verdansk returns, and the comment section was divided.

However, I don’t think it should be a debate, as the feature would only ruin the overall experience. Resurgence has become more popular than the traditional battle royale because it’s a fast-paced game mode, and the small maps ensure constant engagements.

And since you respawn, it’s much easier to get back into the action without waiting in the Gulag or for your teammates to buy you back.

Redeploy Balloons and Drones successfully improved the pace of traditional battle royale matches because you could land, loot, and then traverse the map to get into gunfights quicker. However, Verdansk is already the smallest traditional battle royale map in series history, so you can already find enough action on foot.

Also, they would render vehicles useless because they are quieter and quicker to use than driving. This means that the iconic helicopters, cargo trucks, SUVs, and ATVs from the original Warzone map wouldn’t be necessary, and they played a massive role on the original map, helping you rotate or escape.

And I also don’t think having a team come out of nowhere and take you out from above before even knowing what hit you is enjoyable. So, while Redeploy Balloons and Drones solve a common complaint with Warzone, it’s not worth going against what made players fall in love with the battle royale when it was first introduced.
